Bringing history back to life

Discover the dedicated work involved in preserving the legacy of Dickerson-Whitsell and Amble Cemeteries. Our restoration projects are essential for honoring the past and ensuring these sacred spaces remain beautiful and dignified for generations to come.

Our restoration efforts

At Friends of Dickerson-Whitsell and Amble Cemeteries, our primary focus is on the thoughtful restoration and maintenance of these historic grounds. Our projects include repairing damaged headstones, meticulously cleaning up plots, and clearing away debris to maintain the beauty and integrity of each resting place.

Why preservation matters

These restoration projects are vital to us and to the community because they preserve our shared history. Each headstone, each plot, tells a story, and by restoring them, we ensure that these stories are not lost to time. Our work honors those who came before us and provides a tangible link to our community's heritage.

Get involved and make a difference

We welcome anyone who wishes to contribute to these meaningful projects. You can get involved by cleaning stones, donating materials, or offering your time to help with tasks like clearing tree damage. Spreading the word about our important work is also a huge help. Every contribution, big or small, helps us preserve these special places.

A proud restoration: Past Preservation workshop

One project we are particularly proud of is our restoration workshop with Past Preservation. It was an amazing and incredibly educational experience for everyone involved. During this workshop, numerous stones were meticulously cleaned, and approximately five severely damaged stones were expertly repaired, showcasing the transformative power of dedicated restoration.
